Congratulations to Michael Reyes, MD, MPH Colleagues, Please join me in congratulating Michael Reyes for receiving this year’s Chancellor's Award for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and/or Transgender (GLBT) Leadership in the faculty category. Michael has long been a leader in HIV policy and community development both locally and globally, and a strong advocate for GLBT rights and inclusive approaches to diversity including serving as the current co-chair of the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on GLBT Issues. A brief bio on Michael: Since 1989, Dr. Reyes, a family physician, has held major leadership roles with the UCSF Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center (PAETC). In his current position as Principal Investigator, he has developed a variety of innovative HIV clinical training programs for health care providers in California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii, and the six US-affiliated Pacific jurisdictions. At the PAETC, he also developed and directs numerous subcontracts with health professions schools and community-based organizations throughout the Pacific region. Dr. Reyes serves as Principle Investigator on several projects for the California State Office of AIDS, the CDC, and The California Endowment, including the National Center of Excellence for Transgender Health. All members of the UCSF community are invited to attend the the Chancellor's Award for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and/or Transgender (GLBT) Leadership presentation ceremony on Monday, June 13, 2011 on the Parnassus campus from noon to 1pm in N-225. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony. We take pride in Michael's great leadership and contributions on many fronts.
